Volcanos and Views
If you are seeking all year round sun Lanzarote is the place for you to visit. It is one of the larger Canary Islands and is not a place to visit if you wish to undertake serious sightseeing. It is more the Beach, pool, bar and restaurant type of holiday and rest and relaxation take prominence. However, if you do feel the urge to avoid sun-bathing for a day or two of your holiday, a visit to the Timanfaya National Park on the west coast offers a glimpse into one of the most isolated and breath taking landscapes that you will ever witness on this earth. A number a hotels offer an all inclusive option making it very popular amongst holiday makers.
Costa Teguise
This is one of the most well known resorts on the island, Costa Teguise offers brilliant beaches and a wide array of watersports to be undertaken. It is home to the islands only golf course which is set amongst the volcanic hills. You couldn’t take a trip to Costa Teguise without taking a visit to its popular Sunday market. It has a wide variety of stalls selling Spanish handicrafts and makes for an interesting and joyful afternoon out.
Puerto Del Carmen
One of the liveliest resorts on the island is Puerto Del Carmen which has grown over the years from a small fishing village to a popular busy and bustling resort. The old town’s harbour still has a traditional ambience with narrow back streets and mouth watering seafood restaurants. Puerto Del Carmen is approximately a 20 minute journey from the airport.
Playa Blanca
Slightly further away from the hustle and bustle, Playa Blanca has more of traditional than its counterparts. It’s a great place for family holidays if you’re seeking a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The beautiful harbour area offers a wide selection of outdoor cafes and delicious seafood restaurants. When you feel like a change of scenery, why not hop aboard one of the regular ferries from the harbour over to the near isle of Fuerteventura. Playa Blanca is approximately an hours journey from the airport.
